Re: Should parents let CPS in willingly or not?

I respect that opinion. Personally, I don't trust the system enough. If you let them in, it gives them the ability to twist anything they see and use it as justification to stay in your life. The smallest imperfection can be used against a family if the worker wants to. I personally believe that ci...

Re: Our Story

Court was posponed again because on of the lawyers couldn't get to court, which is understandable. It was snowing pretty bad.
And we got a new referee. Fun. Fun.

Re: Our Story

I am so sorry to hear this, Rakhel... did you find out anything more today? Will you be going back to court. I trust that you have a good lawyer. Did you tell them your plan to move out of state? I'm wondering if they did this intentionally so they could force you to stay in their area. Sorry it's ...

Re: Our Story

I am pissed. The foster agency removed my youngest son because he had dirty feet. Well, they also complained that he had access to roach spray(which is silly becuase number one, I don't have roach spray; number two, the other kids don't have access to anything chemical related so why would he?), the...

Re: Need Help/Advice PLEASE!

First off.I am sure you love your grandchildren dearly. Only one who, willingly, left her home to spend months in the hospital to learn how to care for a medically fragile child can be nothing but in love with that child. And I am truly sorry that you have to go through this. Now to the main problem...

Re: what if my house really is messy?

My kids were taken away because of a messy home. They tried to claim I had animal feces on the floor and had to change it because we had no animals. At all. I hadn't swept that morning but I had cleaned up. I admit it was a little hard. 2 teens who had to be yelled at to do anything, Two toddlers who...

Re: Devastated about custody

You could but don't have to. Way back when, my husband offered to take anger management before it could even be suggested(which it never was) to try to beat them to the punch, so to speak. His lawyer advised him not to as that would be an admission of guilt. You don't want to have a psych eval befor...

Re: grandmother brain washing my child to call her mom n& so

I don't know if this works in every state but what my husband did when he didn't think his lawyers(his on his third and final) were advocating for his, was write a letter to every lawyer and judge involved in our case and sent one to the local bar association. All it basically said was that my husba...

Re: Our Story

we are on trial discharge with the youngest. FINALLY!!!!! I think the agency is afraid of the judge. HEHE. We also managed to get them down to a time frame for the TD. 3 months. If things go well(which it will) they will patition the court for final, regardless of what the ACS lawyer wants. And even...

Re: My CPS Story

Talk to a lawyer. If you don't have one, get one. This might be of some help. It might not be. Researching, and asking questions, never hurt anyone http://texaslawhelp.org/ http://www.texasbar.com/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Can_t_Afford_a_Lawyer_ http://www.lanwt.org/ http://www.trla.org/get-help/do-i-...

Re: Early Childhood Intervention

Something my husband reminded me of concerning EI. In sone cities you can have the therapy done at the center. Aslo, you don't have to stay with the same therapist. If that therapist is doing something you don't like you can request a change. You do have some control.

Re: my daughter being abused in foster care n nothing bein d

Sometimes the foster agencies don't want to see, or even admit, that they may have made a mistake. We ran into this problem with my oldest. She was being physically and verbally abuse, and medically neglected(TB wasn't being treated). It wasn't until the woman "lost it" in front of them th...

Re: Early Childhood Intervention

We used EI during our Trial Discharge. we actually had two different therapists coming in due to our first son's disablitiy. One came for 4 hours a day 5 days a week and the other came 2 hours a week. I guess we lucked out with the ABA therapist. He used to work in the CPS/foster care system and dis...

Re: Our Story

So by the time the hearing was over("If you object to my ruling, you know how to file an appeal."), the ACS attorney was looking like Linda Blair in The Exorcist. Smoke out of the ears, green foaming mouth, spinning head. you name it. They want a medical clearance for the baby. We convince...

WOW it has been a while. But must provide an update and ask for help at the same time. Agency 1 has been given, by the judge, approval for final discharge and Agency 2 approval for trial discharge. Then all went to hell in a handbasket...well maybe not that bad, but it feels like it. Son in Agency 2...

Re: Our Story

i know they were doing their jobs. I'm not as angry now. Still sick, but not as angry. The SVU is looking to talk to her, and the case worker in charge of our case has stated that she feels that my 19 year old should no longer have sibling visitation(something we were going to ask for anyway). So I ...

Re: Our Story

our case is two and a half years old. Well past the AAFLA or whatever it is. I have been with the same lawyer for this entire case and he was new to the game himself, at the time. So he has learned a lot over the course of this long battle. In other words, he has learned to grow a pair, as well as h...
