Way off topic, but...
I got such good advice here the two times we were investigated by CYS and I don't know who else I can ask: I was stopped by a police officer and accused of speeding, speed checked by laser. Since we have Prepaid legal Services and the whole thing seemed "off" (lots of little things) though...

"Hostile" medical care?
The nurse-practitioner my husband chose to take our son, now 30 months old, to as an infant (because he believed it's best to have a medical record of our son's health and that his health care is not neglected) has always seemed slightly hostile toward us but has never done anything wrong. Since our...

Re: Legally what may a child do?
Eljay, are you saying that if a social worker wants to question our small son, we are allowed to say no for him? Are we also allowed to insist, respectfully of course, that the child be not taken away from us to be questioned or to be examined privately? Our son does not go to daycare, he is usually...

Legally what may a child do?
We know of a couple who is having a hearing (or whatever) today, that will determine whther they get to raise their children or whether the children will be permantly removed from them. This is quite shocking to me and very sad. As I have heard, it all started with CYS coming in to the daycare where...

Re: Are there laws about the size of "home"?
Thanks to both of you. I'm so glad to know that a small house is not against the law.

Are there laws about the size of "home"?
On account of our neighboars who have tried many times to get us in trouble with the law, we are planning to move. We have bought a lot (about three fourth acre) with no buildings. We have bought a used mobile home, 12 feet by 60 feet (but roughly half of it will need to be used for our small home b...

Re: Which are the best states or provinces...
I followed that link Eljay posted above and studied it, and based on that I decided that South Dakota is the best place, in terms of percentage of referrals screened in. Minnosota and Alaska were good, too. All the other states listed had higher screen in rates, like 33% or more, as I recall. It's b...

Re: In our situation would you move?
I have family and friends all around in this area, and if we buy the place we are looking at, we will still be close to them. If we would stay, we would need to do more than simply put up a privacy fence. Our main door opens up in the direction of the road and not far away, so we are directly visibl...

In our situation would you move?
I don't feel safe here since we have been reported to CPS the second time. And, just the other day, the dog law officer came by on account of a complaint by our neighbor. The same one who we believe reported us to CPS both times. The description of the dog they were complaining about was not our dog...

Re: I'm concerned...
He was walking on up the road away from our house, therefore was turned away from us. Well, actually he could have seen us if he turned his head, but he didn't. We are working at moving away, but this takes time. We only started looking to move since our last CYS investigation! We want to make sure ...

Not sure where to post this. This afternoon someone came with a pickup truck load of firewood. My son and I took the money out to him then came back to the door and watched our neighbors mow, watched the traffic go by, watched the man unloading the wood for us, etc. My son was very contented watchin...

Re: Which are the best states or provinces...
Daruma, I'm not sure why my friend is being threatened (I didn't ask) but apparently it has something to do with the children playing outside within eyesight of the road. My friend said she tried making the children stay inside, but she's not doing that anymore, as she believes that's not in the bes...

Which are the best states (US) or provinces (Canada) for raising a family as you believe is best for your offspring with the least amount of governmental threat and outright interferance? I've been sorta wondering this for a while, but after a conversation with a sister in church today, I'm really, ...

Re: phone call with social worker
Thank you for all these helpful links! I've been busy with information gathering from these links. Unfortunately it is now the weekend so I'll have to wait until Monday morning to call expert lawyers that I've found. I found an interesting PA law: "Any person named as a perpetrator and any scho...

phone call with social worker
I talked with one of our social workers this morning. I asked her to please send us any records or files they have on us and she said they won't, it against their policies. I then told them that I'm writing a letter about what was said and done yesterday, which I want them to read and sign if it's c...

Re: CYS social workers came today...
Oh Eljay, you make me laugh. But that is sorta why this is so puzzling to me. I wonder if there's something I missed or why they'd want to keep checking up on me, and for how long, as if the accusation means something apart from evidence. I'm curious if they will confirm my account of their visit to...

Re: CYS social workers came today...
They said the tip was that our son sometimes sleeps in the car unattended, he sometimes plays along the raod unattended, he had thrush and yellow stuff oozing out of his eyes, we had a child we miscarried and buried in our back yard, our son was born at home. Oh the false implications and the untrut...

CYS social workers came today...
They said they came because of a tip someone called in. I told them a number of things before I became uneasy about the way they just kept on asking questions. I didn't like the direction they were stearing the conversation, so I told them that I don't want to answer any more questions without talki...

Re: Federal and PA satate laws and handbooks?
How do I prepare legal forms in advance to appoint someone to be the legal gardian of our child? I would really like for our son never to go to who-knows-who when there's no need, it's one reason we did our will. You can be sure our son won't be going to public school either, and we'll try to keep h...

Re: Federal and PA satate laws and handbooks?
I did not know that CYS could get involved if we were both killed. I just imagined our will would be immediately effective but I can kinda see why not. I just hope that if we ever cannot look after our son, either temporarily because of an accident or permanently because of death, he will be with ex...
