Re: Monthly check in with SW, how does yours go?
Do you have to allow this? If so, find a friend that is willing to be a witness to what your children state. Tell the social worker that since it is not you inside the room listening while she asks questions, that your children's statements will be honest. If your children are old enough to underst...

Here ya go.
It's a 2007 article, but the general principles should still be applicable.

To give names or not, and how to refuse
I've seen some statements around the board saying not to give the sw any info. I've even heard it said not to divulge names of doctors, etc. At the same time, we need to maintain at least the appearance of compliance. How should this be balanced? How much info should be given to a sw (or denied to t...

Re: False Accusation by Other Grandparents
Makes me kinda wonder what the agreement was between the other lawyer and his clients. Does he only get paid if he wins, and if so, is he now trying every dirty trick in the book to get a victory?

Re: being investigated for supposed sexual abuse
One thing you might think about starting with, besides trial notebook and recording everything, is getting your hands on that report and then getting your Corrections and Objections paper made up. This is also at the fcps homepage. I'm tellin' ya, Linda's done her research.

Re: being investigated for supposed sexual abuse
From what I've read everywhere on this site, an attorney will be your biggest defense against the lies that a social worker can spin about you. From the look of things, the lies are imminent. Nothing will make you look more guilty than the stuff that will be in that report. A proper defense attorney...

Re: My daughter is being sent away soon
You'll see her again. She's 14. She has her own mind now, and won't forget this. This is in her permanent memory. She's not at such a young age that they can make her forget about you. When she turns 16, the rules will probably change. When she turns 18, the rules change again. She has her own thoug...

Re: Flood the CW with Paperwork and Other Time-Wasters?
I'm going to amend my previous comment in a couple places. I mentioned a "riveting" thread, but that made it sound like I'm sitting here bouncing up and down reading this and eating popcorn. That's not quite the image I meant to convey. I found the situation in that thread to be so... well...

Re: Flood the CW with Paperwork and Other Time-Wasters?
I know I haven't been posting in awhile. I was reading a rather riveting thread in the investigations forum. I'm hopping mad. I told my husband I may just become serious about my artwork and use it to fund law school. I was fuming to him earlier this evening about how there's no lawyer on this site,...

Re: Required to state charges/allegations?
As there seems to be a very high likelihood of an acquaintance having similar issues as those depicted on this board, I think it would be fair to say that I may have reason for studying this for another person as well, though I'm not quite sure what I would do with this knowledge. It's not like I co...

Re: Required to state charges/allegations?
I was recently afraid that my mom (who is a control freak and would be upset with me helping my 20-yr-old brother get out from under her) might call on me in retaliation. Well, she doesn't know I'm helping, so I'm still in the clear. For now. Also, my pastor's wife is a teacher in the local Christia...

Re: Required to state charges/allegations?
Thank you for your reply. I'm not a law student, though I must admit that I find the prospect tempting, to say the least. I bet you know what area of law I'd be studying. ;) Nope, for the moment I'm only learning the ropes *just in case.* The statistics are terrible. It appears to be more of a "...

Required to state charges/allegations?
I'm curious about something. In nearly every account I'm reading, Social Services (or whichever of the myriad of names they are referred to as) has a tendency to level new allegations against the parents as the investigation progresses. So I guess I have 2 main questions: 1. Is DFS technically requi...
