Re: IN CPS legal question

If she hasn't already been removed, the parents MAY be able to give you temporary or emergency custody. Check with a lawyer to find out if that's an option in your state. It's saved many kids that I know of from going into the system.

Re: Another question about future children

Technically, if you won the case they're *supposed* to leave you alone. That absolutely doesn't mean that they will, though. The safest thing to do is to move to another state if you're able to.

Re: Has not allowing CPS in ever really worked?

My sister, back when her daughters were young children, refused to allow the worker into her home. Instead, she insisted that the worker meet them at the pediatricians office to see the kids. It worked well in her favor, having the kids doctor there during the interviews and able to put his opinions...

Re: Help for the kids?

A minister isn't an option. He was dragged to so many religious meetings and places that now he wants nothing to do with any of it. I don't know what kinds of groups might be around here but I'll look into them. Any ideas where to start the search? We're in a very small town that doesn't have much t...

Help for the kids?

What help is out there for the kids who have gone through the nightmare of being ripped away from their parents? My son is going through hell. He's 15, been home less than a year after being torn away for almost 8 years. He's angry at the world, doesn't trust people, can't handle being touched, and ...

Re: Torn | Confused | Despair

Absolutely, definitely get yourself an attorney. Limit your talks with CPS and don't tell them anything more than you absolutely must. Never, ever offer them information. When going through the nightmare with my son, I only answered yes/no questions. I informed the caseworker that was all he would g...

Re: Do I have to show my psych meds bottle to CPS

A lawyer is always a good idea when CPS has made contact with you. Don't trust that they have to have proof of anything. They can twist facts and make up lies to remove children, as many of us know from experience. The statement for your daughter is a great idea. You should also contact the school a...

Re: This is what has happened today. PLEASE HELP!

The first thing to do is to help your mother get a good lawyer. NOT court appointed, and not from the same area that the courts are in. You want to avoid friendships within the courtroom, and lawyers from the same area often are friends with cps workers and their lawyers. Make sure your mother knows...

Re: My family's nightmare

My visits gradually went from short, supervised visits in the CPS office, to longer supervised visits at my brothers home, to short visits on our own. After about 4 years I was able to start having my son here for a few weeks during the summer each year. I had to make a formal request with the court...

Re: Feel like giving up...HELP: (

The pain never goes away, not even after the kids are home and life resumes. Taking good care of yourself and doing things to keep your mind and body occupied does help though. Helping my father to build our small business up from the ground was the only thing that kept any level of sanity for me.

My family's nightmare

I've been popping up here for a couple of weeks now, trying to help where I can and at least give a shoulder to those going through their own nightmares. I thought it might be a good idea to post our story here. Forgive the length. It was an 8 year long ordeal to get my son home where he belongs. In...

Re: future children 2

I don't know the specific laws about taking future children, but I can tell you that at least where I live, they do it often. A friend of mine who I met in the CPS ordered parenting classes dealt with this. Her oldest 2 children had been taken due to her living conditions at the time. They were plac...

In short, they can and will do anything they want to do until you have a good lawyer to stop them. It's best to look for one outside of your immediate area.

Re: So much fear

My son and I spent almost 8 years without each other, and with very little contact thanks to CPS. He's home now, but we're both always on edge. We're in a different county now, all the way across the state, and still every knock on the door has us both getting tense. I don't think that fear will eve...

Re: False accusation

Rule #1 in dealing with CPS is to never, ever allow them to speak to a child alone. They're well known for taking innocent comments out of context and twisting them to make it seem like the child is living in a nightmare. Rule #2 is to have a lawyer on record and to refer them to that lawyer with al...

Re: Admitting Guilt

That's common with court appointed lawyers. They usually want you to go along with whatever CPS says and that's that. It's less court time for them. By admitting guilt you're opening yourself up for many years of headaches. I was coerced into it, and it was the single worst decision that I made. If ...

Re: My Ped Did Call The Pediatrician URGENT

This is very similar to how the nightmare started for my son and I. My best advice is to take her to another doctor NOW, even if it's the middle of the night. The ER, an urgent care walk in clinic, anywhere that she can be seen. Have them note in her file that they're seeing her because her regular ...

Re: CPS investigation

I suggest seeking the advice of an attorney just to protect yourself. Also, in the future, I wouldn't allow them to speak privately with any of your children. They have methods of leading the kids to say what they want them to, or twisting what was said to meet their own agenda.

Don't lose hope. It took nearly 8 years, but I fought the system and I won. There were many times I felt like it was a lost cause, but then I'd look at a picture of my boy or I'd close my eyes and see his smile, and it gave me the strength to keep fighting for him. He turned 15 today. It's the first...

Re: cps has had my children for six months please help

Unfortunately, when caught in their tricks, we all end up jumping for them. The most important thing to do right away is secure a good lawyer with experience fighting CPS. You know what's in their case plan. Do those things on your own. They're often intrusive, but you'll have to do them eventually....

Re: LOSING FAITH IN INDIANA

I remember the fear and feeling of intimidation very well. I'm so sorry that you're facing it now. Is there a family member that can go through the homestudy and petition for custody? They're required under federal laws to consider all family members that step forward. My brother stepping forward wa...

My son was taken from me almost 8 years ago because I had run from an abusive relationship and was struggling to start over. It's VERY common for CPS to do this! Any attempts to get help usually end up with them involved and blaming the nonabusive parent. It's taken nearly 8 years of fighting but my...
