Re: Letter to United Way
annakenc: Thank you for your reply. I don't recommend arguing for "rights of the parents" because that would be playing their game. They will argue "rights of the children", and it will be set up as "parents vs. children" which is just how they would love to pose these ...

Re: Letter to United Way
On Thursday, I spoke at length with the head of Child Protection at JFCS, responsible single-handedly for taking 93 children so far in 2011 alone and putting them up for adoption. She was very competent, spoke very well, and said all the right things. She's obviously very good at her job. I got a ca...

Dear Kerbs, You've told us how you think we should not fight CPS. Please tell me what you think would be effective. I don't actually agree with you about the money- taxpayer money or not, the CPS has a budget, and if they run over budget, they have a problem. I'm more than happy to use up as much o...

Re: Letter to United Way
Thank you so much!!! That's an excellent idea. Note that my wife and children are outside the country and hence well outside the JFCS's grasp, so I have nothing to fear from the JFCS right now. I've written this draft- I would be extremely grateful for any feedback at all you could give: -----------...

Re: what the hell?? we never got official "letter" !
You are allowed to video. And they are allowed to walk out. I'd say: 1) Conceal the camera if you can, and lie that you're not filming. OR 2) Film, let them leave, and let a judge tell them it's your right to film in your own house, and watch them come back crying. OR 3) Don't film, but write everyt...

Re: My question
I would request a copy from your mother's address, and I would work right now to have all contingencies covered for when they come again- I wouldn't take peemptive action necessarily, but I would network, and I would inform people in power about my case. Your case sounds like a real nightmare. Even ...

Re: Political movement
This is definitely the right way. I don't think we need a political movement, but we do need a lobbying network. And maybe instead of randomly rambling, we should set one up. It needs to be local (how local?) and the emphasis needs to be on winning tactical struggles to cost the CPS as much money as...

Re: Letter to United Way
The letter seems to have had some effect- the head of child protection at JF&CS would like to meet me, and has to report the content of the meeting to United Way. I'd say that's a pretty-much optimal outcome. I'll schedule the meeting for next week, or the week after. Any tips on what to say?

Maybe I should sue them... I'll talk to a lawyer, perhaps. My son is demontrably traumatized by their bullying, and surely that alone is grounds for a lawsuit.

Helping the helpers not to harm
Dear admins (and everyone else), I would urge you to read http://www.amazon.com/Helping-Helpers-Not-Harm-Iatrogenic/dp/1583910956, and to place it in the FightCPS bookstore. It's a study by Prof. Gerald Caplan, one of the world's foremost community mental health workers, a Harvard professor who wrot...

Re: Trial vs. accepting a temporary
I'd always go for the trial, but then again, it's easy for me to say because the file is closed. Apart from the fact that one has a chance to win, there's also the fact that a trial costs them money, and it's entirely possible they might back down from a completely ludicrous case- in any event, the ...

Letter to United Way
Thank you for suggesting that I write to United Way, an umbrella organization for charities, to ask just how they manage to classify child-kidnapping JF&CS as a charity (and grant them millions of dollars!). I am writing them the following letter, and I would very much like the feedback of reade...

Regarding moving: not so very many decades ago, people ran into my grandfather's village to tell them the Nazis were coming. Nobody had money or resources. But 7 people managed to run away inside 2 hours. Those 7 survived, while the rest of the village was killed- not one person who didn't run survi...

Re: Newcomer from ON., Can.
They're in Toronto, and they're expensive, but you can't do much better than the team from Wilson-Christen. They cost because they really are that good. Alexandra Seaton there dealt with our case rapidly and easily, and won easily on each occasion.

Re: why cant i see Cps reports?
Our file was closed a while ago, but they still never show me the reports, although they promised to and it says in their pamphlet that they do. They're liars. I mean, it doesn't matter anymore to us- but they're still liars. Their system self-selects a certain type of sadistic case worker, who does...

Re: being investigated for supposed sexual abuse
*Borrow* to get enough money for a private lawyer. Take a loan. Having a private lawyer makes a huge difference. If you don't throw money at it now, you could lose, and then it will cost a lot more than money further down the road.

Re: New and Worried
I would be pretty worried. And I'd act fast. 1) Get your house super-clean super-fast, so that when the CPS person comes, they see a spotlessly clean house. In particular, make sure the fridge is full of healthy food, and the children's beds look tidy and clean (those are the things CPS people are t...

Re: Who do I turn to? HELP CA DCFS ruining my kids
I've noticed this too- case workers are people without children. I felt really ridiculous having this silly young uneducated social worker, without children, telling me how to bring up my children like she's some sort of expert on the topic. Needless to say, her advice was at the level of her expert...

Re: Who do I turn to? HELP CA DCFS ruining my kids
Your daughter's under a lot of stress, so I wouldn't judge her. The important thing is to get them back; and at least to quickly get visits. So I'd make a clear point, and stick to it- don't reason with the social workers, just repeat the main point over and over again in slightly different ways. Ma...

Re: CPS nightmare of the past year
This took place in Ontario, but probably it's the same everywhere. We were shocked at the embelished psychiatrist's report. Misdiagnosis and awful lies, with the potentially life-changing verdict of "not suitable as a parent" based on 20 minutes of superficial interviewing- for an antidepr...

Re: CPS nightmare of the past year
Thanks! They didn't completely break the family- we aren't divorced or anything- but they definitely damaged the fabric of our family life, which is embarassing because it is indeed their goal. It hurts. The reasons are entirely external (my work situation, and the fact my family don't feel safe in ...

That's really impressive, and super cheap! We escaped in about 3 months as well, but it was much more expensive (because we pursued all avenues of action, regardless of the price).

Re: Child taken because Dad scared the social worker
I think that the CPS are at fault, not your husband; him "frightening them" should have no bearing on the case unless they are complete imbeciles, and if they are complete imbeciles, it's their problem not his fault. So you two have to stick together, okay? This is a critical battle, and y...
