I have gotten some good info here and plan to try it out. I know I have to be more assertive and hope the DEAR MAN process will be helpful! Having a clearcut way of doing things helps clear my mind and keeps me focused. Looking at my case and what I had to do to get my point across seemed almost imp...

I think this week I will try to talk to him in his office with all the information I have and see what he has to say. I can make up my mind on how I feel he will do this last court hearing based on what happens then. I am just really nervous! I am also going to research my case better so I can lay d...

Thanks all! I have my daughter in my custody. CPS just keeps threatening me with sending her to her father's in Alaska to live, saying I am not getting my case plan done in a timely manner. I am constantly stressed out about it. My lawyer yells at me and says that maybe I am a neglectful mom for doi...

Too late to change?

My private lawyer is not always nice to me. I truly think he does not understand depression and is not representing me to the fullest extent I should be. My next and last court hearing is March 2nd. I am now completely broke and wonder if I should switch to a public defender. I was told at the court...

Happy New Year!

Sometimes I wonder what I have to be happy for, but I realize I can still fight the injustice and have hope. 2007 will be a better year, I can feel it in my bones! I wanted to wish everyone on this board a Happy New Year. You all have kept me sane and listened without judging... I didn't know what I...

Rant all you need to here- it's one of the few places I've found where it feels safe! And everyone here understands what you are going through. I never would have believed CPS was as bad as it is, but now I do. Wholeheartedly. Peace to you today

Please make sure you go to your own chosen therapist and not one paid for by CPS/ Human Resource Agency! I went to the one they paid for and never felt comfortable with her and now, after she terminated my therapy in a very unethical way, CPS is harping on me to have my daughter go and see this same...

Did the newspaper post your letter? You did the right thing. The public now knows, the social workers now know, the police now know.... Hopefully this will keep something like this from happening again, at least for a little while. Someone else will be believed and their child watched instead of let...

You have a right to the court records, and therapy recommendations may be included there. I think it has to do with privacy issues in therapy as to why you can't see the notes, but not sure in CPS cases where CPS is paying the tab for the therapist. I think that on Tuesday when you go in your lawyer...

You replied on my post about this topic and how it relates to your case. My therapist put my daughter on her caseload, saw her on a Monday, and then dropped me during our session on Tuesday. I went to the American Psychology Association and on their website was able to access their Code of Ethics. I...

In my parenting therapy group funded by CPS the therapist and housing specialist said it was easier to get kids back and to get help with housing if parent(s) are drug addicts. This is because there are so many programs out there that will help. CPS puts these parents on a track in which parents com...

I don't think that was right, at least not by APA Code of Conduct and Ethics. Maybe you could get a second party review of your case by an independent psychologist? I've never heard of anyone doing that but it would be helpful to you. What they did was definitely a conflict of interest...

It was Unethical!

I heard from my girlfriend who is a marriage and family counselor who said it would be a conflict of interest for my therapist to see both my daughter and myself with so much at stake. My therapists first alliance should have been me and my daughter should have been directed to a different therapist...

Concurrent Planning

It sounds like you need to tape record all your interactions with this worker for possible court purposes. Should they decide at the 6 month review your child(ren) need therapy your lawyer might be able to use it against them, Especially if you don't get a therapist paid for by CPS. And speaking fro...

Kids tell it like it is. The Social Worker asked my daughter what Mom (me) would need to do a better job and she said "Mom could be a robot so she could stay up all night." it probably wouldn't matter, though, cuz no matter how hard I work I am always behind in housework. I hope the letters help you...

Thanks Marina! I'm not sure but I found something that looks like it. Since this was a study about CA system only I am wondering if the funding source is the state gov't. Hmmm... I appreciate your help cuz I have a more promising path to research than before you answered me.:)

CalState San Marcos CPS study

Does anyone know of a study by California State which is in phase 4 and is being done to help CA CPS deliver better services? I was interviewed as a birth parent (foster parents are interviewed as well) about my experiences with my county CPS and I got to say some things about how my daughter & ...

my last post

I just reviewed your posts and see you have gotten off the list but are trying to sue to regain at least something that was taken from you for the last 6 years of improper paperwork. Once again I would say ACLU or AFRA or even some members on the board here who might know of lawyers to help you. I a...

The registry

I think there are ways to remove your name from the registry, but I think you must go to court to do so and that it is not just working with the registry beaurocracy itself. I don't know the process or your story with CPS, but have you contacted the ACLU? Or AFRA? It seems to me that if you've been ...

Therapist conduct- Illegal or Unethical?

My daughter's therapist died, & After calling weekly on the 3rd week I called and was told to speak to my therapist who told me she was going to be seeing my daughter. We had spoken about this in August (my girl has been in therapy since Sept.) and my therapist, D, didn't want to see the both of...
