Thanks for the links!!!

I have passed the links on to our attorney as well as the links I found here before to Arkansas Dept of Health and Human Svcs. He esp found DHS's handbook "very interesting" It has no real written policy on 'case closing' or 'case opening', but does have around 50 pages on adoptions. That part he fo...

Update (kinda long, sorry) and question

I'm back...I haven't posted in months so to freshen your memory~ Back around March/April my [then] 3rd grade son was talking to a group of friends and they were telling "one up" stories about sex. (where one kid says something and another thinks theirs has to be bigger, better etc)~ One of the kids ...

Better than it could be

:!: You're lucky (well as much as you could be in this situation). In Arkansas they have the option to leave you in the Central Registry as long as they choose, including forever.

I just went through our manual AGAIN thinking I must have missed the 'closing a case' portion.

There are 40 pages, of a 157 page manual, dedicated to "adoption" and not 1 page regarding case closing requirements.

Where else would I look?

Thanks

Let me get this straight....They ok'd you as foster parents then when you wanted to adopt the child/children they put you on the central registry as abusers???

That says a lot for their investigations.

I would say "no need for involvement" means they aren't going to bother you anymore FOR NOW. At least that's what I get from reading our manual (I bet I've read it more than the folkes that actually work there).

Since I posted that, I've received notice to come in on May 24th for a "closing inverview". It says I can bring my attorney, which I intend to do but what is a closing interview? As I said, they are missing 1/2 an investigation including the paperwork they should have filled out to OPEN an investiga...

To those of you who have already been through a CPS case : :?: I just received the report which is supposedly copies of all their paperwork, they sent to our attorney. As I am going through our state proceedure manual I am finding over 1/2 the papers they were to have filled out missing. Everything ...

After much searching (and help from you guys) I found the statute for Arkansas: Unsubstantiated reports are kept at least until the end of the fiscal year. After the end of the fiscal year they can send unsubstantiated reports for the preceeding year to the Center for the Study of Social Policy revi...

Thanks According to that statute our names shouldn't have even been on the list but I have the paper stating they put them on AND turned us into the prosecuting atty (even though according to THEIR records the case was closed 2 months ago as unsubstantiated). Odd how since their case was closed they...

? re central registry

In the Arkansas "family services policy and proceedure manual" (I was finally able to upload and print it) It states on pg 14 Policy (11-D) Child maltreatment central registry that "...Records of cases where allegations are unsubstantiated shall be retained as needed to assess future risk" Am I read...

As to talking on cordless phones, when my oldest was a baby his baby monitor picked up the people in one of the houses around us every time they were on their phone. We couldn't switch channels on the model we had and we could hear word for word their conversations. Eventually we just got rid of the...

If you have any other children in your home, it wouldn't be safe to have her home (as devistating as that is). Plus if you brought her home to other children and she hurt them CPS would be on you like white on rice for "failure to protect"

Just something to think about. Not pleasant but.....

Where my kids used to go to school, if you sent their lunches and the school deemed them "unsatisfactory" they would give the kid a school lunch and then charge you full price for it even if the kid didn't eat it. One day I sent a PBJ sandwich, chips and fruit juice to drink and they gave my kid a h...
