"Child abuse is whatever the social worker decides it is. One social worker might use this against you, but if a foster parent did it, she'd decide it wasn't abusive " It absolutely would be considered abuse if a foster parent in the state of Missouri did this. You could try some research on some be...

I don't have any advice/suggestions but I just read your post and wanted you to know that I hope everything works out for you.

It's got to be terribly lonely and stressful to be on the run like that.

You make good points nickerdew. I have actually watched some of those shows that disturbed me somewhat. One that comes to mind is the mom who made her kids make dance practically their life..they even had to punch time cards everyday. On the other hand some of them who have let their kids just run w...

I think those shows are extremely exaggerated for "entertainment" and shock purposes of showing two extremes.

We don't owe any bsck child support they garnished our taxes for $8000 when we filed 3 years all at once. Said we owe it.

You mention filing 3 years at one time? Could some of your garnishment be for income tax and penalities for not filing each year.

ourlittlefellas... You are absolutely right. I am sorry I got off on the issue of the 10 year old. That part of it just kind of blew my mind. Since I can't offer any real help on dealing with the neighbor and her anger issues I will stop posting. I wish you the best of luck and hope that your next n...

I agree that CPS will and should definitely question the judgement of the mom (you) who allowed the 10 yo to babysit 3 small children, two of which are autistic. I wouldn't push that avenue if I were in your shoes. I think you got lucky also. If you're good with CPS I would let it drop and try to st...

Letting a 10 year old babysit 1 child is dangerous, let alone 3, and 2 of them being autistic.

I hope you don't have anymore hassle from her, but I feel you are very lucky that nothing happened to your children under her (their) supervision.

Advice that I would give is to be proactive, responsible, and to take the initiative. Showing through actions (show up to your appointments, be on time, turn in paperwork, and just be responsible and together despite the chaos) and not just saying that you care and will do whatever it takes to brin...

MaggieC, Thank you. I hope I didn't come off as defensive. I really wish, like most of you, that the system was different. While I don't have the answers, I am one of many who are willing to stand up with parents to make changes. I know that generally people are speaking out of anger and frustration...

with foster parents paid to be cleaners and babysitters The majority of foster parents do NOT do this for money, anyone who has done it for even a little while would see that. Parents are not the only one the state puts through hell and hoops. Is it any wonder that most foster children never do wel...

a person who is taking in children ,foster kids, aren't they supposed to be able to financially take care of those children, I don't know about other states, I can only speak for my own, but we absolutely have to prove we can financially support ourselves without reimbursement from the state. I, an...

its for the couple of children per year that are seriously neglected or abused, If by a couple you meant thousands I would completely agree with this statement. Regardless of how many innocent families are on here and out there fighting for their children and should be doing so, there are parents o...

Have you talked to your attorney about that amount of money being garnished out of both of your paychecks?

I always thought any garnishment could only be a certain % of your income and never exceed that?

Re: Hi Jackie

I enjoyed reading your post about the return of your children, and I find it very commendable that you do care about the feelings of the foster family. Foster parents do have feelings, and that is something that DFS often forgets. They think that these people should be able to just act as if they w...
