Re: PA being investigated by CPS
Yes, you are doing the right thing! Make them get a search warrant or don't let them in.

What state has your child?
She said in the very beginning -- she lives in Arkansas and was in Alabama when the baby was taken.

Re: Can baby share a room with us?
I'm not sure about where you live, but when we were involved with CPS, they demanded to see that my granddaughter had her own bedroom.

Re: Never even saw it coming
What do you do now? Get a lawyer, a GOOD lawyer who isn't afraid of fighting CPS, not a court-appointed lawyer.

Except in Family Court. CPS used hearsay in court against my daughter and got away with it. My daughter did nothing wrong, either, and we ended up with CPS in our lives for 17 months. I still live in fear that they'll rear their ugly heads again.

I second the previous advice. Don't sign ANYTHING; get a lawyer; don't agree to ANYTHING -- no drug testing, no nothing -- without a lawyer. They're fishing here and nothing more.

From the stories I've read, it's a little of both. In my daughter's case, if she had been a single mom with no family to step up, they'd have taken her baby right from the hospital and put her in foster care. The only reason she was able to keep her baby was because she lived at home with my husband...

Finally got CPS off our backs!
After 16 months, CPS has finally closed my daughter's case! Of course, the only way they would close it was for my husband and I to take joint custody of our granddaughter, but at least they are out of our lives! I suppose in the grand scheme of things, we were lucky in that my granddaughter was nev...

They are not bound by privacy and confidentiality if they feel you are a danger to yourself or someone else. They are, in fact, "mandated reporters" and must report it if they suspect you are a danger to yourself or someone else. Where the danger comes in, in my mind, is if they misunderstand someth...

I was using the therapist as an example of my fears. It is not an option for my daughter NOT to go to the therapist -- it is court ordered. Plus, she is bi-polar and does need to continue to see a therapist. She SAYS she is very careful of what she says, but I know my daughter and when she gets angr...

In our case, our granddaughter was not actually taken away because we promised to provide 24/7 supervision for my daughter and granddaughter. Sixteen months later, we are STILL dealing with CPS, although we go to court next week and the case is supposed to be closing -- with my husband and I taking ...

Good luck! We've been dealing with this crap for 8 months, since the day our Granddaughter was born, all because my daughter asked to be put back on bi-polar meds as soon as the baby was born because she knew she was more apt to develop postpartum depression and all the stories of women with severe ...

I have been told all along that it is ultimately the judge's decision on the return of my son. I know that he listens to the CPS workers' recommendations, but I guess I'm just stupid because wouldn't CPS have to have something to backup their concerns? You would think so, wouldn't you? But if they ...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the info! I will be contacting her today. Also, that link didn't work for me, I had better luck getting her info at: h...

Cherise Cuevas, website www.cuevaslaw.com. She's handling our case and is VERY experienced in CPS matters in Fairfax County and Loudoun County (where we live).
