Re: Harrasment from cps

If you let them interview your kids about their mom, can you guarantee CPS won't start asking them questions about you ? It sounds like they already have a grudge against you for successfully blocking them the first time around. What makes you think you can trust them this time? If there's criminal ...

Oh, SugarCookie, that's wonderful! I hope things continue to go well for you. Congratulations and enjoy your increased visitation time. May she soon be back at home for good.

Re: Do I have to show my psych meds bottle to CPS

Having a list of open-ended questions would be a great idea, NoRoses. Questions would be very useful for filling in those awkward silences where they're waiting for you to blurt out something self-incriminating.

Re: Torn | Confused | Despair

It sounds like you're trying very hard to get CPS to understand the situation. You expect that they'll show a little compassion, a little common decency, if they just understand everything you're up against. My friend, it doesn't work like that, I'm sorry to say. Everything you say is evidence (to t...

Re: Torn | Confused | Despair

Yes, your best bet is to get an attorney right now. I just called the CPS supervisor of the case worker and mentioned in a voice mail that my ex is confusing my eldest son and I am afraid that she is wanting him to live with her by deceiving him into saying the wrong things to the case worker. Was t...

Re: Do I have to show my psych meds bottle to CPS

I have printed two letters, one to keep & one to give school, telling her school to not allow CPS to talk to her. Also, I have printed two letters to her PCP doctor revoking my authorization to release her medical records to CPS and invoking my full HIPAA rights. Do I need to have these letters...

Re: New here, social worker week? What?

I've never heard of social worker week. It sounds creepy.

Can you call the school and ask what it's about? Or if you're afraid of calling attention to yourself, can you ask a friend to call?

Re: What to expect.. case just opened.. please help!

I actually dont have an attorney yet. I am disabled and on Social security and would have to wait until next week to hire one. I am just scared to say anything else to CPS knowing how they twist things around. Then maybe try to put them off until you're ready, like, "Oh, can I get back with yo...

Re: What to expect.. case just opened.. please help!

Oh, if you want to have your attorney present, you can expect the caseworker to tell you it just isn't practical. (That's what my son's caseworker told him.) If it happens, maybe you could just calmly agree that it's a bit of an inconvenience, but you're sure it's for the best in the long run.

Re: What to expect.. case just opened.. please help!

I'm not an attorney, and I'm really quite new at dealing with CPS myself*, so I can't speak from experience about your other questions. However, I see no reason why you can't refer their questions to your attorney. Personally, I wouldn't say, "I refuse to speak to you without my attorney,"...

Re: What to expect.. case just opened.. please help!

Your medical privacy is protected under something called the HIPAA law. CPS bullied my son into signing away his medical privacy rights, but fortunately he came to his senses after the social worker left. He immediately called all his doctors & the hospital where he was treated to revoked his pe...

Since the case was unfounded, shouldn't you be able to get your name off the child abuse registry and have the case records destroyed? (After you get your own copies, of course.)

How strange that CPS wants to throw out the doctor's statement. Makes you wonder what really motivates them.

CPS got involved with my daughter-in-law's first baby because she was underage and because her own mother had been accused of neglecting her. That baby ended up with its biodad. I don't know the details of that case, but I'm guessing that the baby ended up with biodad instead of foster/adoptive pare...

Re: Are unfounded cases always expunged after an investigati

One of my biggest peeves is when people post crap online and people say things like, "Why not call CPS just in case, it's not like it will do any harm even if the allegations aren't true." BS. I see a lot of this attitude, too. I've begun looking for these posts so I can gently try to set...

Good for her.

But how terrible that a 9-year-old even has to think about such things.
