Re: Maicilous People
Do you have a digital camera, or can you borrow one? That way, if the CPS worker says she needs to see something particular (such as whether the kids have beds, or whether there's food in the fridge) you can take a picture and show her instead of letting her in to see for herself, if you choose to d...

Re: Maicilous People
There are people who assume that CPS won't come into your life unless you deserve it. We both know that's not true, but we probably won't convince them until they go through something similar. I would suggest unfriending them from Facebook. If you're afraid of retaliation, at least change their sett...

Re: False accusation
Yes, any random stranger can say anything at all about you to CPS, and you will be the one under suspicion. They give the benefit of the doubt to the accuser, for the sake of "protecting" the child. Better safe than sorry, is their thinking. The problem is that children are not necessarily...

Re: Closed Case.
I don't know what power they have, without a court order, but they may indeed try. My suggestion is that you and your wife both move out of state, and then reunite afterward.
It's not fair that fear of CPS should have the power to uproot you like that, but anything is better than losing your child.

Re: Idea of the day
These are good ideas. However, I would dearly love to be able to reach parents before CPS shows up at their door. So much evil could be avoided if they knew they could just say, "Sorry, no, not without a warrant."
Miranda rights for parents would be a good start.

Re: Re-opening a dismissed depedency
What a nightmare. I don't know the "official" rules, but unofficially, it seems like CPS can do anything you can't stop them from doing. Especially if you don't have a good lawyer. My advice would be, wait until your case is closed, then move far away (out of jurisdiction of the CPS office...

Re: Idea of the day
Well, I didn't mean distributing brochures without the knowledge or cooperation of the respective offices. It would need to be done with their permission. It would probably also need to be done by someone with credentials of some sort. But it's something to keep in mind in case an opportunity ever c...

Re: Idea of the day
Kelz, your observations about the underground railroad are spot on. I've been fascinated by that topic ever since I read a story about Harriet Tubman (a runaway slave who eventually returned to the South to lead other slaves to freedom) when I was seven. CPS reminds me of slavery in several ways, es...

Re: CPS Mediation
Thanks for continuing to update. I'm still hoping for a good resolution for you. And soon. (But what is wrong with these people? When they know they're wrong, why can't they just admit it? Sometimes I think CPS is a magnet for narcissists and sociopaths.)

Re: Admitting Guilt
I'm not a lawyer or an expert or anything, but my personal opinion is that you should never, ever claim you're guilty if you know you're not. It may seem like the easy way out right now, but it will surely come back to haunt you later. Frankly I think your attorney is just trying to make his own job...

Re: CPS investigation unfounded now forced to pay medical bi
If the hospital and CPS both told you you're not responsible for the bills, then maybe you need to go higher up the food chain. The people who handle the billing may not be aware of the circumstances. Does the hospital have a financial advisor who can help you straighten this out?

Re: Not Sure What To Do
As mentioned earlier, this is an OPEN case, which mean by policy I need to have contact in person with the children and have access into the home on a regular basis. I am to refer the family to appropriate services and maintain contact with all service providers regarding the family's progress.... ...

Do you have any additional information on this? News links, the name of the legislation that mandated it (if there is any), etc.? We need to point out to lawmakers and/or hospital administrators how this could have disastrous consequences for injured children. Frightened parents may avoid or delay m...

Re: My daughter is being given to abusive ex-husband
That's very sad. There are some abusive churches out there that make an idol out of "authority". When relationships go sour, they blame the person who has the least power in the relationship. My heart goes out to you for all you've been through.

It's a bit of a shock, isn't it? I knew they sometimes took children without a good reason, but I thought that was just a rare, unfortunate event. Until I saw them go after my son and DIL, I had no idea how deeply corrupted the whole system is. Crazy to think this could happen in the 21st century. I...

Re: New Pregnancy am I supposed to let my caseworker know?
Also , do you have a paper you signed allowing cps to talk to your doctors?~ Good point. If you signed a release, call your doctors, any hospitals or clinics where you've been treated, etc., and revoke the release. All you have to do is let them know you no longer want CPS to have permission to acc...

Re: Too much power...
They are tough to beat, but they aren't invincible. People have beaten them in court, just not often enough (because so few parents know their rights). Part of the problem is that the public perceives CPS as child rescuers (which, perhaps, they really are in cases of real abuse). There's an attitude...

Re: My daughter was taken a week ago today
I will lose my daughter for good now. I prayed in Jesus name years ago for help with my relationship with her. Obviously, His answer was 'no.' Well, God never wanted to help me anyway. Maybe the answer isn't "No"; maybe it's just, "Not yet." Your daughter is very young. She's at...

Re: Not Sure What To Do
CPS has told me all along I am not being investigated, only an interested party, so basically they are lying out their teeth to me... The longest conversation I have had with them was 10 months ago when they told me they had scheduled my children to be examined, they didn't even then tell me for wh...

Re: Feel like giving up...HELP: (
I know. My son and his wife never abused her newborn, either, but they had to leave the baby at the hospital. It wasn't because they did anything wrong. The worst thing the CPS worker could find to say about my son's behavior in the hospital was that one of the nurses had seen my son taking a nap. (...

You're doing the right thing, so please don't lose heart. Of course you could give up now, but it would come back to haunt you later on. It is a battle. They're counting on you to get discouraged and give up. It's so hard to keep fighting when you don't even know if it will do any good, but if you g...
