Thank you Marina, I found the web link to be extreemly informative and helpful. I am a FP that works mostly with drug exposed/addicted infants. In my experience more children go on to adoptions in these cases vs. going back to parents. Do you have any ideas or thoughts on how that could be reversed?...

Dina. I am a FP so I can only speak from my experience. I have had many SW not tell me the truth more than once. I have had social workers be mean to me and I have watched them be mean to parents. I have in a kind voice said to them that sounded so mean, about 1/2 the time they have said your right ...

Donita, you were so right when you said: I felt like the outcome was desided before we ever entered the courtroom. I have little experience in court, but in the few times I have been called to go I saw this happen. The decision were made in the hallways between lawyers out where everyone could hear ...

From a FP perspective: Where I am from parents have a right to not have their child placed in a "gay" home. They do have to fight to get the children transferred to another home though. We are required as Foster Parents to respect the beliefs of the birth family. Not all do, but it is actually a req...

Lostintranslation, Your advice was awesome. It is really hard for the kids when the parents tell them that they should not like the foster parents, or you don't have to listen to the foster parents etc. etc. I have gone through this so many times. The children feel so torn. I think what helps is tha...

Donita, I agree with you many of your points. Yes you are right when you say that bad foster parents help CPS destroy parents creditability. I know it happens, I also know that sw say the fp said something when in reality they never did. I know that they turn the things we say around just as they do...

good question! For me a child born addicted to drugs or testing positive for drugs should be removed. I don't know a person who is high could take care of a new born. A child that has been sexualy molested should be removed. A child with bruises that were obviously not accidents. A child with non ac...

Children are devestated when a parent does not show up for a visit. Here the parent and the foster parent set up a visitation schedule themselfs, based on what the court ordered. We pick a time and place that is mutualy agreed upon and that is our schedule. I agree with florida, Parents should walk ...

Florida, Most people don't know about the lies told by CPS. These fost/adopt people want a child. Maybe they can't have one by birth and many of them don't have the $50,000.00 cash up front needed to adopt privately. Their focus is having a child. They are tying to make their dreams come true. CPS i...

Eric, I am not going to get into a spitting match with you, as I am not a good spitter. I do want to make it clear that I made no reference to your or your wife actions being the cause of your daughter being abused in foster care. No one for any reason deserves to be abused period. I have noticed th...

Stacy, In my state a foster parent must disclose that they are a foster parent when they call the hot line as we are mandated reporters. How would they know though? The person that calls really has to see something with the very eyes for anyone here to ever go out and even take a look and here they ...

Florida, You are correct, foster parents don't have parental rights, really no rights at all. It is difficult for some foster parents to understand that. It gets harder when a child has been in your home for a very long time, they just become part of the family and in a good home they are treated no...

Eric, before I responded to your comments/thoughts I took the time to go back and read your posts from the begining. Quick question, don't these truths come out in court? I have never been to court (foster mom's in my area don't get to go, nor do we get any details of the case), so I honestly don't know the answer. Keep in mind I only do drug addicted infants that are going through withdrawls or have severe medica...

Florida, It is not true that we won't be crushed. I am crushed each time a child leaves my home. And I have never once hoped for TPR. When a child comes into my home I get to enjoy them and love them. When they go home to their parents or to an adoptive home I am both crushed and elated. I am more e...

A kindergarten boy was talking to his friends and his teacher overheard the boys talking. One little boy said his dad Pee peed on his pee pee. The over zealous teac...

Judge not

Today I was reading a very long post from a Foster Mom who came here for support. She sounds like a wonderful person. But after reading all of the replies to her, I was saddened. So many were judgemental and accusitory. The same things that you say you are against here. Some of you, yes were misjudg...

Melwoman, I am also a foster mom and understand what is happening to you. You can never use physical punishment on a foster child, ever. I understand though where you are coming from though as my oldest son, now grown and married was a biter. The only thing that worked with him is when I bit him bac...

McNights, yes you have the legal right to change the names if you wish to do so in adoption. Honestly in my experience most famlies do only if the child is an infant. One child I did not change their name the other I did. My reasoning is that the name was very unusual and there were about 7 names th...

Give advice to a Foster Mom

I don't know if I am welcome here, but I would like advice from you all. I was a foster mom for over 6 years until we moved out of the area. We are now in the process of getting licensed in our new location out of state. I always tried my best to work with parents the best I could, but as you know C...
