Children In Peril Information??
I came across a group calling themselves Children In Peril on one of my numerous searches and linking processes. I cannot find anymore information on it. Can anyone tell me more or whether they have a web site? Thanks in advance!

I agree to sue for custody
The only problem is that, from what I've seen in the family court system, judges will barely give a slap on the wrist for mother's who pull these sort of games. I wouldn't let that stop you, though. It might be enough of a scare tactic to get your ex to think that you won't sit back and take her cra...

I am so sorry!
When I first read your post, I thought that my husband's ex was the same as yours. She, too, put one of her daughters through a full gynocological exam to try and pin a rape charge on my husband. After many lie detector tests, interviews with all involved and investigation, the charge was never foun...

My case is finally closed...Now what???
Our case, after a year, has finally been closed. We've been called the "Poster Family" for all of DHS' "help." We now plan to pursue legal action against them and I wanted to get input from families who have done this to see what steps and in what order we should pursue this. We've been told by many...

Don't allow it!
I have learned from this site that you should place in your childs school or daycare file notice that a service worker or officer cannot speak to your child without you or your lawyer there. I have done this. It may not always work, but whatever you can do to prevent this from ever happening is wort...

There was never a mention of me harming my child in any way, shape or form, but I lost him over "Failure to protect." The DHS will do whatever it takes to remove the child, no matter what you do.

Similar case in Michigan
Just recently, a mother in my hometown was aquitted of all abuse charges because they were able to prove that the teenager she hit with a belt was hit due to discipline and not abuse. Is that the case with you? I don't agree with abuse, but sometimes discipline has to be upped in order to get the po...

I disagree, Jansen
We had an unfounded case against us two years prior to DHS removing our son. All of a sudden, those unfounded reports have made their way onto every court document, and it never mentions the fact that it was an unfounded report. I think they like to keep building up on them. We were under investigat...

Homeschooling
Be careful. Homeschoolers are prime targets for CPS. You're right that they will go behind your back at the child's school and talk to her anytime they want. School is considered public property, so they have that right. You can teach your child to say to any worker, "I will not speak to you without...

Sounds like your older daughter has some serious issues that counseling alone isn't resolving. Have you considered sending her away to one of those survival camps for troubled kids? Having her in your face is going to provoke you again, most likely. To prevent that from happening and possibly leadin...

You need legal help!
If you don't currently have a lawyer, get one! Also, you have the legal right to see any file they have on you. If you can't get through to the worker, try the next level up. If you continue to get no help, contact the ombudsman at the office. They are required to help you when you have issues with ...

When you call using a cell phone, all incoming, outgoing and missed calls are recorded. If this is the only number they can reach you by, you have complete proof that they never attempted to return calls. E-mail is another great way to prove they are not responding. It also shows that you are being ...

Case almost closed, but now I'm pregnant!
My husband and I have been called the "Poster Children" and "sucess stories" of our local DHS. (Could it be because we were always good parents and wrongly accused?!?!) I am now pregnant and due in 7 months. Our case is still technically open and is expected to be closed in 3 months after one more r...

Our son was finally returned to us on June 3 after we bent over backwards and did absolutely everything and then some for DHS. I wish I could go back now and plead not guilty. But who knows how much longer we'd have to wait for our son's return. What bugs me the most is that the DHS was just given g...

I had a replacement worker have to sit in on a VERY important court hearing because ours was on vacation. He went against the memo's he was given by our origional case worker because he could see through the B.S.
It's a all a matter of who you get. I hope it goes well for you!

Did you tell them you used a belt?
If you admitted to harming him, your best course of action might be to plead guilty and just go with the program ASAP. The longer it drags on, the longer it will take for them to put you through the hoops you'll have to jump through (parenting classes, counseling, anger management, etc.). I'm on you...

Best advice
Assume the worst in a case like this. Have fear. If you have fear, you will be more likely to do something proactive rather than wait for them to find something wrong. We signed a service agreement that we wouldn't use physical abuse on our child (we never did in the first place!) and the daycare ju...

No reason given
As with every question that DHS doesn't have an answer for, the question as to why Families First wasn't even aware of the removal, they just brushed it off and moved on to other things, or (My favorite excuse) you're being combative. I don't hear you taking responsibility for this. This is a very c...

Families First
Before our child was taken away the DHS brought in Families First. We had a very nice worker and bent over backwards to allow her the time she needed to be in our home. After two visits though they took our child away and placed him in foster care, so I can't say one way or the other that Familes Fi...

New Money for Michigan and 4 Others
This link goes to an article about earmarked money and what it will now be used for. It can be good, but it slaps those of us in the face who weren't able to take advantage of it. Please take a moment to read it.

Psych Eval
My lawyer highly recommended taking it as it showed good faith. Now, the quack who gave me all of the computer generated tests, labled me next to a serial murderer! Then, DHS wanted me to take a psychiatric exam. I went to their doctor who basically said that the previous test was awful and full of ...

Cost For Court Transcripts...
Here in SE Michigan, for us at least, if your case is still in the court system, you can have your attorney subpoena the transcripts for no cost. If you want them yourself, you fill out a transcript request form, give them a $20 deposit, then the rate is $2.05 per page. If you need them quickly, the...

Info for you
I'm pretty sure that you can request court transcripts in any case. The court usually has video and audio already running. You'll have to file paperwork and most likely pay for the transcript. I doubt you could do the recording yourself. If you haven't already been there, the texas.gov website is fu...
