Like all federal agencies, the Department of Justice (DOJ) generally is required under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to disclose records requested in writing by any person. However, agencies may withhold information pursuant to nine exemptions and three exclusions contained in the statute. The FOIA applies only to federal agencies and does not create a right of access to records held by Congress, the courts, or by state or local government agencies. Each state has its own public access laws that should be consulted for access to state and local records.

The Citizen Access Project Web site includes the texts of all freedom-of-information laws enacted in each of the 50 states. It also provides contacts for local organizations involved with open-government issues.

Unfortunately CPS does not care about Freedom of Information Act. They refuse to release Case Files according to their statement "IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILD".

Sad what the Country is coming to and they don't follow the Laws and they are so corrupt, they won't follow anything but their own!

Freedom of Information Act is good for the Media Release of information and others, but it does not work with the Police or CPS or Hospitals, or other Medical Fields, because of Privacy Rights. It is really slippery slope we are on here and we cannot even use it. Only most Media would use it to release "News", so why can't they get the information on CPS?

They have to give you your case files and that is where the state laws come into effect for obtaining them.

Go here and see what I have posted in regards to this.

This is not about the child/rens files. It is the parents files that cps has written up on them.
