I live in Texas, so this involves Texas Child Protective Services.
In February of 2012 I got into a fight with a friend, and proceeded to take a large dose of Xanax, washed down with a bottle of wine. I started to panic and begged my husband to take me to the ER. Once I got there I must have said something to give the impression that I had tried to kill myself. I was involuntary committed to a psychiatric hospital for two awful weeks. The day of my release, a CPS worker approached me in the hospital and said that my daughter (then 2) would not be allowed to return home with me and would be placed in foster care unless I could find a temporary guardian. Luckily my parents were more than willing to take her, but unluckily I signed a Family Service Plan.
This investigation has been going on for 16 months now. I completed all the FSP steps six months ago, never failed a monthly drug test, yet my caseworker's supervisor Still won't allow my daughter to come home. She said that I need to attend more AA meetings, and she's concerned because I work at a liquor store.
I've never been arrested, never been in trouble with the law or CPS, and my daughter was not even in my home the night the incident occurred. I'm getting so frustrated with the inconvenience and hassle that this has caused, not to mention the absolute trauma it's inflicted on my daughter who will turn three next month.
Please share any helpful advice or ideas. Thanks!

Talk to a lawyer. If you don't have one, get one.
This might be of some help. It might not be. Researching, and asking questions, never hurt anyone
