how to find out the exact name of cps handbook for my state

Postby Chasia Henderson » Tue Mar 10, 2015 11:45 pm

How do I find this out?

The caseworker played dumb and said she didn't know what I was talking about.

Maybe I need to be more specific to jar her forgetful head into action.

Anyway, I figure she isn't trying to provide the handbook for me and will stall on that issue. So, how do I find out the exact name of it and where can I get it myself if she won't get it?

Thanks

A few years ago I compiled a list of state CPS web sites and handbooks. Check it out, and if some link no longer works, please let me know.

California has moved its statute-search site to https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes.xhtml. However, the old site still partially (they've disabled some features), and is better for some things. (Like seeing more than two paragraphs at a time.) The new site doesn't allow you to open extra tabs; you have to keep re-running searches for similar topics. There is, fortunately, a link to the new site at the old one.

Not a lawyer; nothing I say is legal advice. I am, however, someone who's studied children's "protective" services for several decades, and my anger and disgust has only grown stronger over time. I want all parents to know: whatever your flaws, whatever your guilt or failings... you deserve better than what CPS would to do you and your family.
