Welcome to the forum. It is great to have a police officer post on here. Hopefully you will share any insight you gained about CPS while working as a police officer.

My first piece of advice as a retired police officer:

DO NOT TALK TO OR LET ANY CPS OR POLICE INTO YOUR HOME WITHOUT A WARRANT AND/OR LAWYER!!!

No matter if you feel you have nothing to hide or that you are cooperating DON'T DO IT!!!

They will twist anything you say or they see to make their case and they get away with it.

Cite the 4th amendment if they push you. Without a cop AND a signed warrant they cannot enter your home unless you let them.

Not at all, if they have no warrant and it is not an emergency then you tell them you are citing your 4th amendment rights and they are not allowed to enter. Do not physically try to stop them but feel free to close the door on them. If they force their way in despite your verbal protests and proclamation then you get out of the way and call a lawyer immediately. You now have grounds for a lawsuit because they violated your 4th amendment right. Also anything obtained during that search is not admissible in court because it is illegal search and seizure or in legal terms "fruit of a poisonous tree".

cyber, that sounds nice and all but i've read too many stories here where they just don't give a hoot. They come in and take the kid(s) and leave it up to the corrupt children's court system, a place where parents have no right to even speak! This whole children's court system is screwed and they don't care about american rights, it's a socialist system already in place.

I agree...if it works, great! My night of terror came as we just got home from the hospital after 2 days of interrogation and sex exams. 4 armed police offers, 4 cop cars, 4 hands on holsters with chests puffed out, and 1 CPS lady with a clip board. I was so exhausted from the emotional crap at the hospital, and the thought that my child was actually abused, that I never even fought them physically. I never screamed, or cursed. I DID cry, hold her tight while they pryed her from my arms screaming, and refuse to help the lady buckle her in the carseat. As she struggled to force my daughter in the carseat, one officer told me to "help buckle her or I will arrest you for obstruction."So I had to personally bend inside the car and buckle her in her kidnappers car, whispering that I love her, it will be okay, I didn't want them to take her, and promising to come get her back. The other 3 cops went in my house without asking while I was in the driveway dealing with the other cop, my daughter, and CPS. When I went to the door to go in, they were casing my entire house, and 1 had his cell phone out and flipped open. I DID say I didn't allow you in my house. 2 remained quiet with horrible faces of guilt/not liking it. 1 told me it didn't matter, to get her some clothes packed, and the 1 outside came in and said "do what the officer told you. We don't give a shit about your feelings or your rights. You have no rights. We only care about protecting that little girl. " .....now, I could have insisted on my constitutional rights, but he literally had his hand on his gun as a bully measure. He just would have arrested me for who knows what. I would have paid a lawyer to fight. Who's the court going to believe? A frantic mom or 4 police officers and a CPS agent?

That said, I still would recommend what you say to do. Just.......it doesn't always work.

I should add, we live in a small rural area of Missouri, where no matter what the bigger city's standards are, the police/government operate on a very old school/good ole boy club way. I should also mention in my particular case, there had been a CPS case of sex abuse against my ex/her dad for 2 months ongoing. The officer that was the worst, is a hunting buddy of my ex. Needless to say, they were under the impression (gossip) that I abused her myself to try to hang my ex. So, it may not be that dramatic in other situations.

Brookey in your case they would have had to literally kill me before even touching my kids. I HATE all aspects of the government and 99% of cops. Have NEVER had a good experience with a cop seeing how usually its them harassing me or my family for some reason. I don't do threats I will die before my kids are taken from me. I have already left the state once when I thought they were trying to. I am just one person that will go to the end of the earth to exact revenge...that's just me. Sad thing is sometimes the only thing a cop aka thug with a badge understands is force. They think that since they have a badge and a gun they can do whatever they want.

Honestly, the thought crossed my mind to try to run or fight. But they are cops, with mace, gasses, guns, and the courts on their side. I have 3 other kids. I can't go to jail. ...although the idea of jail is getting less and less scary as this drags on.

Hello - first time posting.
Question: If a person is absolutely protected under the law by the 4th amendment, then is it only the use of intimidation
that forces this issue? In other words, the homedweller may or may not know their rights, but are not told at the time, that they have
them? (rights.)
The reason I bring this up, is that we are socialized as good citizens to respond to any police request to answer our door.
This is pretty much a given. Normally, for most good people, the intimidation factor can be pretty overpowering.
Also, if the worker and/or (especaially!) officer(s) do not state clearly why they are there, can one automatically assume
that their investigation is a child-related issue?
I would think it easy enough to deny access to a worker - this should raise obvious suspicion.
But law enforcement showing up at your door is another matter.
just let me laugh when it's funny
but when it's sad, let me cry

Exactly why I would try and run. I have tried doing things their way they lie, cheat, make false accusations etc whenever it suits them. They don't work within their own system so why should we? 1 thing is for sure I am permeantly leaving this state when this 6 month bs is up...getting rid of our dog tomorrow so that's 1 less reason they need to come in actually going to talk to my lawyer see if we can get it reduced to 3 months because I am getting rid of the dog.I have been to Jail more than once it's not fun but having to live without my kids is even less fun no way I would willingly let the system take them away...guess I have just been through enough crap with the system to know they lie that is their job to lie and get things done for their boss the system. The caseworker we have actually chased a woman down in her car this past February and she crashed her car killing her 1 son. Course he is still on the job destroying families she is in jail.
