I'm a newcomer, and I had a School Social Worker made mine and my sons life miserable for years. He called CPS on me, he had 2 warrants out on me, and eventually had me arrested for "truancy", but the charge was changed to "failure to have child in an approved school/curriculum)" after I withdrew my son to Homeschool him. The SSW wanted me to do a pre-trial diversion, which I refused, and demanded a trial. The SSW/School dismissed my case after I demanded a trial. That should tell you everything. CPS never opened a case on me. I owe all this to God! I can't take credit for my fortunate outcome, because it wasn't me. It was my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Yes, Jesus can work miracles!! And requesting a trial is a good idea. There's nothing illegal about homeschooling. I recommend that homeschool parents join their state homeschool group and HSLDA. The state homeschool group can be a good advocate for homeschoolers because they want to protect their state's homeschool law. And HSLDA provides a phone number for emergency calls if you need a lawyer to talk to the social worker at the door. I homeschooled nine years and got some good help from my state homeschool group and their lawyer. I had social workers at my door twice with allegations about homeschool yet they never even asked to look at my homeschool legal paperwork. I had it on hand, but they never knew what to ask for.
