A law that may ban spanking in California.

Postby MotherOf3 » Tue May 01, 2007 7:57 am

I thought I should post this so all the Californian's here who dont know about HSLDA would know.

Assembly Bill 755: Anti-corporal Punishment Bill

Author:
Assemblywoman Sally Lieber

Summary:
A.B. 755 would have the practical effect of eliminating spanking with an implement (i.e. inanimate object) in California. Although A.B. 755 does not use the word “spanking”, it doesn’t need to because it would add language to the Penal Code, describing the actions of spanking with an inanimate object, such as a paddle. A.B. 755 would force Sally Lieber’s view on everyone else through the police powers of the state.

Status:
2/22/2007 Read first time. To print.
4/23/2007 From committee: Amend, do pass as amended, and re-refer to committee.

HSLDA's Position:
Strongly Oppose

Action Requested:
See A.B. 755http://www.hslda.org/Legislation/State/ca/2007/CAAB755/AB_755_Action_Alert_070424.pdf—Action Alert, issued April 24 by Child and Family Protection Association and HSLDA (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)

Canada currently has Spanking Law in effect. CAS (CPS) are wanting to ban Spanking and changing it back. Supreme Court upheld the Spanking Law and it stays there for the meantime but could be changed at any moments notice because it can be revised within 2 years of the order. I hope the Judges will keep it on. That way, all the CPS Cases will be cut in half. including the false claims.
It is easy to steal from poor people. But don't do it. And don't take advantage of those poor people in court. The Lord is on their side. He supports them and he will take things away from any person that takes from them.~ Proverbs 22:22

The way Tennessee's law reads is that if you strike a child 6 and under (will be 8) with a weapon (and anything can be a weapon) it is aggravated child abuse. Over 6 (will be 8) is aggravated child abuse if you leave serious injury.

Mind you DCS/CPS will say a simple bruise is serious injury. And please don't think I am saying it is okay to bruise a child because it's not.
