Department of children's services called again

Postby treytrey1 » Sat Aug 23, 2014 8:07 pm

After 5 and a half yrs. My oldest daughter has come home.
She is 18 and starting college on Monday. Yesterday I got
A call from children's services. I'm not sure what it's about.
My youngest just got herself in some trouble and I don't know
weather or not someone call child services. We don't even have
custody but she was with us when the trouble began. She
was with her grandmother who has custody when all hell
broke loose. Basically she acused a boy of rape. It never happened.
She was checked by a Dr and then she admitted that she was
mad at the boy so thats why she said he raped her. It was our
phone she had txt him on which ia why I'm a little nervous
if a case can be opened against me. They only asked for
me not my husband. Her grandmother had left her locked out
of the house the day she said it happened. She's only 12.
My sister thinks they may be making a case against
the grandmother and are asking me questions. Any thought
on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you still on friendly terms with the grandmother? If you think she's doing an adequate job in raising your youngest daughter, then say so. Tell the case worker that there is no basis to the rape claim. If you have access to your daughter, you might make a little video where she admits she made the story up. It might be useful in debunking the case. This business of "locking her out" of her home might be the real reason they're investigating. If they don't already know about that, do not mention it.

You're right in that this investigation cannot be about you.

We aren't on the best terms with the grandmother. She gives us
visits when it's conveintant to her. We are already planning on going
back to court to try and regain custody. I hope your right about
it being about her. This incident happened over 2 weeks ago and
we got the call this past Friday. I guess I'll know for sure tomorrow.

I forgot the terms under which you case with CPS ended, and how you lost custody of your little girl. Were you TPR'ed? I ask this because there is a danger that CPS will allege that the grandmother "failed to protect" your girl from you, by letting you have unsupervised access to her. So be careful what you say during the interview. In fact, it might be better if you simply decline to talk to CPS and not return any of their phone calls. As I said before, this cannot be about neglect/abuse on your part, since you do not have custody over anyone.

No we still have our rights. We also have a court order for unsupervised.
I did find out however the call was a reference call about
someone I know. It wasn't about my daughter at all. At
leaat that's a relief.
