any people told they were domestic violence victims?

Postby RainDE » Fri Mar 30, 2012 3:27 pm

Ok, so I was told I had to write something demonstrating I have learned the effects of domestic violence. My son was not born yet, and I was not a current victim. But when I was told that I had to go to groups I wrote something up a few days later on the effects of domestic violence so that they knew the groups were un-needed. They would not consider it as my order being done with. I waited a few months of groups that I already knew everything in, and then submitted something else. They wrote that I was non-compliant still. Now its yet months later and a third time did not work, and they wont be specific with me about what they want--- soooo, this time Im going to turn it in directly to the court with the other 2 out of 3 papers I still have copies of and I plan on doing some kind of official service--- but Now I'm thinking I should write something in-depth one that is hard to turn away--- has anyone had to write such a paper and had the cps ok it--- and what kinds of stuff should I be putting down?

Can you post what you DID write so maybe we can figure out what's missing?

I was told I was a domestic violence victim. I had to attend stupid groups, mostly populated by convicted felons on parole, that I didn't need and which didn't apply to me. But I never had to write an essay proving I've "learned my lesson." Wow -- talk about punishing the victim!

This is something we are dealing with too- however there is NO domestic violence in our relationship at all. None.

Here's what we've done:

1. A lot of research on domestic violence.
2. Discussed the allegations at length with our individual therapists.
3. Neither of us have attended the groups that were on our service plans- we successfully fought the items at twice-yearly review with third parties, and the board determined that the groups they wanted were not justified. We were armed with lots of information, submitted a letter detailing that there is no domestic violence, and challenged the "social worker" to come up with examples, of which he had none.

For "fun", we filled out some of the "are you a victim" quizzes online, twice each. The first time, we did the tests about each other, the second time, with Social Worker replacing "partner". That was an eye opening experience.
