It sounds like you're being really passive, waiting for people to call you

Re: Ask the foster parent
Is there anything that you can think of that would help us? I wish I knew something. All I know to tell the mothers (I'm not in contact with the fathers) of the children I foster is to work their plans. But, both the mothers I work with admit that CPS was right to intervene, so it's not like some o...

Re: Ask the foster parent
Was there anything in your foster training that you disliked? Is there a core curriculum/standard they have/use to train foster parents? Have you witnessed any unethical or questionable procedures during training or anything you do not ethically or morally agree with? 1) Some parts of training made...

Ask the foster parent
I don't know if there is any interest, but I thought I'd offer... I am, among other things, currently a foster parent to two toddlers. I have a better relationship with one mom than the other, but I don't judge. I just try to keep the kids safe until they can go home. So... If you have questions abo...

Re: Virginia - Native American - Daughter & Grandson taken
It depends on whether the tribe in question even has a court system and whether they want to take the case, but its always something to consider.
OP, what tribe/nation/community are we looking at?

Danielle, if your username is your full name you may want to reregister under a less identifiable name.

Re: Question from a new foster parent
Thank you for the responses and ideas! Also, thank you for the perspective on visits and history. I didn't mean to sound judgmental by saying that (I've been told) that visits are hit or miss, I just meant to out that we are working to rebuild, rather than maintain, a solid connection between the tw...

Question from a new foster parent
I am a foster parent who had a toddler girl placed in my home earlier this week. She is my first foster child. She's been out of her home for over a year, and visits with Mom have been off and on, but Mom and I set up visits for the next two Saturdays. Of course, Saturday the 12th is the day before ...

Re: Newcomer
Thanks, ElJay. That's exactly how I envision my role -- and, for what it's worth, it's exactly what we were told over and over in training. Be a soft place for a kid to land. No matter the circumstances, being away from your family is rotten and rough. I believe some familes do need intervention to ...

I have three roles with respect to CPS. One, I have a friend who fought and lost a long CPS battle. I want to learn, from a parent's perspective, ways to support her in her ongoing struggle. Two, I have some experience working a juvenile docket. While I of course can't give legal advice, I may be ab...
