Re: They don't have my address, do I give it to them?
You don't have to do anything that isn't court ordered--although, you might want to consider whether giving them your address is that big a deal or not. As you already know, you don't have to let them in even if they come calling. But back to the main point. If they had enough reason to take your ch...

You can look up state-by-state laws here: http://www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/laws_policies/state/ Check the box on "Review and Expunction of Central Registries and Reporting Records". States do have "freedom of information" or "sunshine laws" (not to be confused wit...

Kalo5977, if your brother has a chance of adopting any of the kids, would you be willing to "disappear" from his life for a while? Let him work it out with the courts. Then when the CPS case is closed and the adoption is final, you can come back into the kids' lives. I know this seem so un...

And as your daughter walks out the door with HER baby, you or your husband can tell Granny that she has no legal custody. Tell Granny that keeping the baby away from your daughter was very close to kidnapping, and you'll press charges if she attempts to stop your daughter from exercising her custody...

PS - Sorry if my answer sounded harsh in any way. I'm on your side. I don't believe CPS always has the kids' interests at heart. But what your husband did was serious. People have lost their kids for less. You may really have to choose between standing by your husband and keeping your son.

About the recording: if it becomes an issue in the future, try to reassure her that it's for everyone's benefit. Remind her that conversations get forgotten in time, and each party tends to remember them differently. Tell her you're just as anxious as she could possibly be to protect your own privac...

Just a few precautions on how to proceed. These ideas apply whether you email your caseworker or print out a letter and mail it. Remember that documentation is a two-edged sword! - Keep your emails or letters short, simple, and to the point. Summarize, don't detail. - Don't include anything that mig...

To sue your landlord/manager, you will need to demonstrate that he or she acted outside the scope of these Oregon requirements: It is your duty as a landlord to respect your tenant’s rights. These rights include the right of peaceful possession. By renting your property to the tenant, you give that ...

Who said she can't take him out of the house? CPS or the other grandmother? If your daughter shares custody with the father, then 1) your daughter can take the baby whenever she likes, and 2) the other grandmother only has whatever privileges allowed to her by one of the baby's parents. Unless grann...

I'm glad your case was dismissed, but if the judge issued an order for CPS to return him to you, aren't they legally bound to comply? Why are the police not upholding the custody order? I agree with Eljay. It's fine if you ask for something in writing that shows that the case is closed as either substantiated or unsubstantiated. You're entitled to know how your case was resolved. In your letter asking whether the case was closed, leave out all the complaints about how the case was ...

Do what the court tells you. You have the right to refuse drug testing if it's not court ordered. And I would document every single instance of them trying to coerce you to take a test you're not required to take. Example, to be changed to suit your exact circumstances: To: Caseworker CC: Substance ...

Why are they going to give you random drug tests? Didn't the court say they were satisfied that you weren't a user? I would not take any drug tests for them without a court order. Tell them if they want the tests, go to court and get an order.

I, too, would love to elect "Reform CPS" candidates, but the only one I know of (Washington State Senator Pam Roach) isn't in my district. Unfortunately, this year probably isn't the best time to push for CPS reform in my state, due to the recent Powell case. That man not only brutally mur...
