Re: court records after 30 yrs?
Hi Daruma, I'm not exactly sure either, but she's a little afraid that she'll brake the law or something if I send in a copy of her origninal bc, rather than the ammended one, but we need to show that she's my daughter AND a citicen of the US to be able to sponsor me to be a registered resident.......

Re: court records after 30 yrs?
Dani, sorry if I'm being dense, but what's the problem proving her citizenship? If you have her original BC, and she has the amended one, why isn't one of them sufficient? (For what it's worth, it's the normal practice here in the US to issue an adopted child a new BC with the adopters listed as par...

I will never forgive myself for not knowing. Sweetheart, how could you know? They don't teach this in government civics class. It's not all over the TV dramas. People don't make movies about it. No one warns you. CPS employees have been doing this for a long time. They've perfected the surprise att...

Hurtbutnothelpless, have you been to AFRA's Facebook page? It's another site where you can get input from people who've been there, done that. Sometimes they may know things we don't, or vice versa.

Re: is there something I file to stop them from going to sch
It probably is the same Hatch act. Some people have tried to use it to prevent their kids from talking to CPS, though not always successfully. I wasn't aware that it was designed to opt out of sex ed or other controversial classes, but that kinda makes sense.

Re: What can I do?
There's something called a Hatch letter (I think) that you can send to the school. It's pretty rare, though, so schools often forget they have them on file. The law gives caseworkers the right to talk to your children. What the law doesn't do is require children to answer. If your daughter were olde...

Re: New here; CPS as a harassment tool
1. Start by writing them a letter letting them know that you have been the victim of false allegations that they have identified and validated as false three times. 2. You have informed the police of the false allegations and they are in the process of investigating and you expect CPS to fully coop...

That's a tough situation to be in. When you're dealing with someone who doesn't care who gets hurt, it limits your options.

HadEnough, please let us know whether this strategy works, and if so, what it took to make it work (such as your attorney getting unredacted CPS reports).
I read about someone using this strategy, but I didn't save the link so now I can't find it.

Re: Why let them take your kids?
Please don't think I'm defending the parents. It's just that CPS knew the dad could be violent, yet they went about this in the most in-your-face, confrontational way possible. If the children had been in imminent danger, it might have been justified, but they weren't. CPS provoked a showdown when t...

It may be a long shot, but have you spoken to an attorney about filing a restraining order against your ex which prohibits harassment via third parties, including CPS?

Re: Why let them take your kids?
But if you die, your kids end up in foster care anyway. Only, with you dead, there's no one watching to make sure they're not abused in foster care. There's no one fighting to bring them back to their own family. In a TPR scenario, there's no one for the kids to come home to when they age out of the...

Tutzi, you have a baby of your own, right? Do you think they might be setting you up, so they can find some fault with you to justify taking both babies away? I don't mean to frighten you. This sort of retaliation comes as no surprise. She may not discuss the case with you anymore, but she can't keep your daughter from discussing it with you. She can't keep you from going to your state legislators. You can keep fighting. She has no authority to prevent it. I hope you're documenting ev...

Re: What to expect in a home visit?
If you choose not to let them in--which is your right, if they have no warrant--you can use a digital camera to show them pictures of your home instead. If your caseworker says, "I need to see that there's food in the kitchen," you go take a picture of the food. If she says, "I need t...

Re: Hope for the Future-A Real President
Jesse Ventura found out in Mn that the Governor(like the President) only holds 1/3 of the power, getting anything done without the support of either house is impossible This is one of the reasons I try to encourage people to contact their congress(wo)men about pro-family legislation such as the Par...

Yes, she was trying to intimidate you. To me it sounds obvious that she was fishing for information (because she didn't have anything she could use against you), and she was just ticked because you wouldn't bite. My best guess (which is only a guess) is that her supervisor saw that there was nothing...

Re: I was contacted by CPS and I refused to let them in.
If I were you, I wouldn't contact them. It can't possibly do you any good to bring yourself to their attention. If you're on good terms with the dad, please be sure he understands why he shouldn't talk to them if he's ever contacted. Of course, if you think he's the vengeful type, that advice doesn'...

All my case manager said was "kids will be kids and you can't expect them not to have any bruises, cuts, or bumps" This is a good reason to either record as much of your communication as possible (within the limits of state and federal law) or to do it by email. That way you always have a...
