what can be done now
my cousin lost her daughter to cps more then 8 years ago. the child was put in a foster home and my cousin was talked into signing her rights away while she was under medication. her daughter is 13 now and my cousin got her back in just the last year. but the girl has been traumatized. she was suppose to be adopted but never was. she was put in a mental place for children at the age of 7 and was just left there until the age of 12. she is now 13 and has legally been diagnosed with MR. she doesnt look or act mr but you can tell her level isnt where it should be. records show she has had broken bones while being restrained in that place. the place is call marillac. it use to be in missouri but is now in kansas because kansas pays more. anyway, we are trying to get a lawsuit against the state and marillac. no one has reasons as to why she was there or why she was there for so long. my cousin now has to adopt her own child back and they are giving her a hard time with that. the girl has alot if anger problems and the state keeps threatening to take her again if they cant get her under control. they are not sympathetic to the fact that the state has donet his to her. we cant find an attorney around here in kansas to take the case against the state. but they abused that little girl and even gave her brain damage from all the differant medications she was on and from the abuse. is there anyone who can help me in this?

Legal Aid is your best bet and if they argue this they are suppose to represent children.
How very, very sad for your niece.
Also there are Children's Rights groups who might take your case.
I will see if I can find a link for that. The link I had posted no longer shows the info.
Keep us informed of your results; this would help many on here who have similar problems.
Here is a link for Children's Rights....it would pay you to read their whole website.

To put it in simple terms…when the authorities ARE the perpetrators and the perpetrators ARE the authorities, there is no earthly justice or recourse, at the end of the day (unless the American people wake up).
Therefore, those who have achieved the highest levels of power seek to ‘enjoy’ the most grievous and extreme injustices. For many of those in the highest circles of power, the greatest statement of power is to perpetrate the greatest possible injustice…the savage, brutal traumatization and abuse of an innocent child.

You don't have to stick with your local area.
Legal aid anywhere in Kansas, but I realize that involves traveling back and forth.
You are saying right now. Does that mean they will take her sometime in the future?

Here is another one you can search.
The legal rights of children are becoming about more and more in the news and lawyers defending them.

she has the paper work signed for the adoption, now she is waiting for a court date. my neice just got out of the hospital(the behavorial unit) on friday. she is having a real hard time controlling herself. she went to see her therapist and went completely off and they commited her. when her mom picked her up on friday she fought it and bit her. its a big mess. they have her on meds (not sure which ones) and they put her on a new one which made her act crazier. since she's been home from the hospital she has been acting out in a differant way. she has been trying to touch her step father in a sexual way and other males that are around. i think her going to the hospital brought back some old ways. i told my cousin to try to get the court date asap so then she can get the investigations started on the cps and marrilac asap. my cousin inthe meantime doesnt know what to do with her daughter and i told her to just be there for her and talk to her about good touch/bad touch. any other suggestions?

i dont know if anyone reads this ne more but good news. the adoption will be final on march 6th. were gonna have a party for her. then we found an attorney to take the case. the srs still sticks with their story about they dont know who placed her in the mental institution. but i read the list of medications given to that girl over the years and i think, lab rat?? this is horrible for her because no matter what the courts do for compensation, her mind will never be right again. ne way i will keep you posted on the outcome.

This is good news and sad news too.
I hope you can sue and win.
How sad for your niece to have to live out her days with what they did to her.
Your right when you say they used her for experimentation.

i havent been here in a while but i thought i would let you know that my cousin is still having problems but the good thing is, cps is out of the picture now. which is a plus. her mom has full custody of her now and has a long road ahead of her but i have to commend her for staying strong and going thru all of this for her daughter.
