I find this resource could be very helpful to those who are just beginning the battle or contact with CPS. The information can be overwhelming in which case you may want to just pay attention to the tables at the end of each chapter as they pertain to your state.

If you have read "Sample-Letter upon initial CPS Contact", in this forums' documents section, you may find this a helpful additional resource to understanding how CPS processes referrals in your state, how soon they will be acted upon, and by whom.
