So what happens if an unfit parent has more kids?

Suppose a parent is declared by the court to be unfit, and their parental rights are terminated. What happens when they have more kids? Does CPS typically initiate a case as soon as they hear about their existence? There are, after all, some behaviors (e.g. child sexual abuse) that the state will consider as meaning that a parent should never have custody of any kid ever again, right, even if they've finished serving their criminal sentence? It's kind of a strange situation to think about, that during the pregnancy you might already know that CPS is going to seek to take away the kid at the earliest opportunity. The kid is already basically state property before he's even born.

A previous involuntary TPR can serve as grounds for a state to ask a court to terminate parental rights of the new child. The state still has to prove its case to the judge that it is in the best interests of the child to be put up for adoption.

There are several new mothers on this board who have had their newborns taken from their arms just because CPS discovered a previous TPR.

That's amazing. It reminds me of the factory farms where people grab the baby chicks from their mothers and throw them into the grinder to be turned into chicken nuggets. CPS grabs these kids and puts them into the foster care system to make money off of them. So from that standpoint, these mothers are like profitable breeding livestock to them.

Sometimes they will let a mother have five or six children then swoop in and take them all.

TPR follows the parent, not the child. If a parent has parental rights removed, they can be removed for all subsequent children.
